hrMM...it's been awhile :) saw oZomatli perform at UCLA last weekend...pretty hype a$$ show :). They did some new stuff along with their "classics" (are they really classics?...i mean they're only a few years old)...but anyway the crowd was somewhat lacking in enthusiasm..but it got better at the end.
anyway today's topic is "activism."
as an Asian Ameican Studies Major....i have to pleasure of learning about many (and believe me, there are many,) issues that the Asian American community is facing right now. My question is..."Where's the activism??? Where's the excitement?!??!?!" I mean, I understand that there are many efforts being made by MANY various CBO's (community based organizations)...I mean..i even work for one!
click here to find out where i work. but anyway, I don't want to downplay the work that these awesome groups do, it's just that....well I miss the enthusiasm that people used to have for civil rights and justice. I mean...what happened to the energy of the 60's and 70's even? It's really sad to see a lot of the apathy that people have for civil rights and equality these days. It's almost like society as a whole has reached a point where those who used to be unprivledged feel that things are "good enough." Now, like i said, don't take this the wrong way. I am well aware that there are MANY people that are FIGHTING HARD to resolve civil rights issues in modern society. It just seems that the general public's awareness has slipped and MOST people are generally complacent. How are we gonna get anywhere if people are complacent?!??!?? Anyway, that's my rant for today. I hope it makes sense. :) If you have questions/comments/points of clarification, plz contact me @
